The founding congress of the Vietnam-Singapore Friendship Association in Hanoi was held on the afternoon of January 21. Mr. Trần Anh Tuấn, a member of the Hanoi Party Committee and Secretary of the Sơn Tây Party Committee, was elected as the President of the Association.
Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Kỳ, Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, noted that the relationship between Vietnam and Singapore has been increasingly developed, marked by high levels of trust and numerous positive outcomes. The two nations continue to expand cooperation across diplomatic channels, people-to-people exchanges, and business partnerships. Singapore is the largest investor in Vietnam among ASEAN countries and ranks third out of 70 nations and territories in terms of the number of investment projects in Vietnam’s industrial zones.
As of 2024, Singapore has approximately 3,300 investment projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital exceeding USD 73 billion. The two countries have collaborated extensively in urban development, infrastructure, and education and training. The Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations emphasized the necessity of establishing the Vietnam-Singapore Friendship Association in Hanoi. As such, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations proposed its establishment to the city.

Singapore’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Jaya Ratnam, congratulated Mr. Trần Anh Tuấn, a member of the Hanoi Party Committee and Secretary of the Sơn Tây Party Committee, on being elected as President of the Vietnam-Singapore Friendship Association in Hanoi. The Ambassador highlighted that economic cooperation and people-to-people diplomacy are key aspects of the Vietnam-Singapore relationship.
The two nations are aiming to elevate their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, focusing on areas such as innovation, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. The roles of the Vietnam-Singapore Friendship Association and its Hanoi branch are crucial in enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the future.
