As green transition becomes an inevitable global trend, the Vietnam Green Transition Association (VGA) has officially been established. This landmark organization creates a vital platform connecting policy-makers, businesses, and green initiatives to drive Vietnam’s long-term sustainable development goals.
On the morning of January 28, 2026, the Founding Congress of the Vietnam Green Transition Association was held in Hanoi. The event drew representatives from ministries, government agencies, and industry experts. During the session, the Executive Committee for the 2026–2031 term was announced, with Mr. Dang Huy Dong elected as the inaugural President.
Speaking upon assuming his role, Mr. Dang Huy Dong emphasized that the Vietnam Green Transition Association will act as a bridge between the State and the private sector.
“The Association will focus on its role as a connector and supporter to ensure that green objectives are implemented in a practical manner aligned with Vietnam’s unique conditions,” he stated.
In its initial phase, the VGA will prioritize policy dialogue, assisting businesses in meeting international green standards, and scaling circular economy models.
Strategic Orientation and ESG Implementation
The Congress highlighted the Association’s focus on promoting ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices and public-private partnerships. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, noted that the Vietnam Green Transition Association will help translate high-level policies into real-world business practices, particularly in carbon-heavy sectors.
To drive these goals, the Association has formed several specialized committees:

Industry and Eco-Urban Committee: Chaired by Ms. Phung Thi Thu Huong, focusing on eco-industrial parks.

ESG Committee: Led by Mr. Pham Hoai Trung, helping businesses navigate global supply chain mandates.

Green Agriculture & Fisheries: Focused on traceability, emission reduction, and marine ecosystem protection.
Strategic Partnerships for Sustainable Action
The Vietnam Green Transition Association signed several strategic cooperation agreements during the Congress. These partnerships cover technology transfer, human resource training, and pilot projects for the circular economy. These actions are designed to mobilize social resources and enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises in the global market.
By accelerating the transition toward a low-carbon economy, the Association plays a crucial role in fulfilling Vietnam’s international climate change commitments.
