In just the first five months of 2025, Hưng Yên Province has attracted nearly USD 4.5 billion in both domestic and foreign direct investment (FDI)—a record-breaking figure fueled by multi-billion-dollar urban mega-projects entering the province.

According to official statistics, since the beginning of the year, Hưng Yên has approved 47 new domestic projects and 32 new or expanded FDI projects, with total registered capital amounting to USD 4.48 billion. This figure is more than double the USD 2.1 billion in total investment attracted throughout 2024.

The surge in investment is primarily driven by two billion-dollar projects. Among them is the Khoái Châu Urban Complex, Ecotourism, and Golf Course—commercially named Trump International Hưng Yên—which just broke ground. This project alone boasts an investment capital of over VND 39,000 billion (equivalent to more than USD 1.5 billion).

The project is a collaboration between Trump Organization, the business empire of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s family, and Hưng Yên Company, a member of Kinh Bắc Urban Development Corporation (KBC).

Additionally, the investment capital for Sub-area A of the Northern National Highway 5 Urban Zone, part of the Phố Nối Urban Area (originally assigned to Hòa Phát Group but currently being rebid), has been adjusted upward to VND 35,000 billion (approximately USD 1.4 billion), ten times the initially registered capital.

Also within the first five months of the year, Hưng Yên attracted over USD 530 million in FDI. Currently, the province hosts more than 2,400 active investment projects with a total registered capital of nearly USD 28 billion.

A corner of Hưng Yên.

In recent years, Hưng Yên has become a standout destination in Vietnam’s real estate market, drawing numerous industry giants with large-scale developments. Besides the Trump family’s mega project, early 2025 also saw the addition of the Centerville Urban Zone in the eastern part of Văn Giang District. This project, developed by DCI (Bách Giang Investment and Construction Development JSC), covers approximately 50 hectares with nearly VND 17,000 billion in investment capital.

Previously, Hưng Yên also welcomed several other billion-dollar projects from major players. Notably, Ecopark—one of the largest urban projects in Northern Vietnam—spans about 500 hectares and has a total investment of up to USD 10 billion.

Vinhomes Ocean Park 2, launched in 2021, holds an investment capital of USD 1.6 billion over 460 hectares. Vinhomes Ocean Park 3 follows with USD 1.4 billion in investment and over 290 hectares in scale.

Transport infrastructure in Hưng Yên.

The influx of major investors highlights not only the region’s growing appeal but also its dramatic transformation in transportation infrastructure.

In recent years, Hưng Yên has seen the rollout of numerous key transportation projects, including the Hà Nội – Hải Phòng Expressway and various connector roads between expressways.

Meanwhile, the 19.3 km Ring Road 4 – Capital Region project, with total investment of VND 5,244 billion, is currently under active construction. The upgrade and expansion of the 33 km interprovincial Hà Nội – Hưng Yên Road, with an investment of VND 2,900 billion, has largely completed its first phase.

Looking ahead, the province expects to launch three additional major transport projects, each worth trillions of dong:

  • The Cultural Heritage – Tourism – Economic Development Corridor along the Red River (VND 9,300 billion),

  • Ring Road 3.5 (VND 1,500 billion),

  • And the Ngọc Hồi Bridge Construction Project (nearly VND 12,000 billion).
