Viet Tri Hoa Binh Expressway Project Proposed for National Plan

Viet Tri Hoa Binh Expressway project

The Department for Roads of Vietnam (DRVN) has officially submitted a major new transport proposal to the Ministry of Construction. Specifically, the department wants to adjust the Road Network Planning for the 2021–2030 period. Notably, the DRVN proposes adding the Viet Tri Hoa Binh Expressway project to the national planning framework. This strategic adjustment aims to accommodate the rising transport demand driven by recent administrative and economic changes in the region.

Project Scale and Financial Outlook

According to the official proposal, the expressway will span a total length of approximately 55 km. Furthermore, the design features a modern four-lane scale to handle high-volume traffic. The department expects the project to receive full investment before the year 2030. Consequently, the estimated total investment for this infrastructure expansion will exceed VND15 trillion ($570 million). This capital injection will significantly modernize the transport capacity of northern Vietnam.

Furthermore, the DRVN based its calculation on updates from the National Master Plan. Because national GDP growth indicators continue to rise, transport demand will likely surge in the coming years. Therefore, building high-capacity expressways early is essential to prevent future traffic congestion.

Addressing Regional Administrative Changes

The proposal responds directly to the restructuring of provincial-level administrative units in the region. Following a recent administrative merge, three former provinces were consolidated into a single entity named Phu Tho Province. Specifically, this new large-scale region combines the former areas of Phu Tho, Hoa Binh, and Vinh Phuc. Because Viet Tri City serves as the new political hub, infrastructure needs have completely shifted.

Consequently, the formation of this consolidated region drives a much higher demand for connectivity. Residents and businesses require efficient paths from the former Hoa Binh area to the new administrative hub. Therefore, the Viet Tri Hoa Binh Expressway project serves as a timely solution to these intra-regional transport demands.

Enhancing Network Efficiency and Connectivity

According to the DRVN, establishing new economic corridors is a critical priority for sustainable development. The Viet Tri Hoa Binh Expressway project will become a vital link between these expanding urban centers. Specifically, the route will improve connectivity across the entire Northern Midlands and Mountains. This corridor will enhance local commerce and accelerate regional trade.

Furthermore, transport experts assess that the new route will boost the efficiency of existing highways. Specifically, it connects seamlessly with the North-South Expressway and the Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway. By creating an interconnected network, the project facilitates smoother traffic distribution across northern Vietnam. Finally, this integration will alleviate the heavy traffic burden currently carried by older roads.

Conclusion: A Vision for Regional Integration

Finally, the proposal represents a long-term vision toward the year 2050. It aligns infrastructure development with actual economic growth and governance needs. We look forward to the ministry’s review of this vital transport axis. Furthermore, V-International will continue to track these national infrastructure milestones to keep our investors informed.
