FTV MEETS WITH VTVcab: EXPLORING NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN CONTENT CO-PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION THROUGH THE CONNECTION OF V-INTERNATIONAL

Attendees included FTV executives Mr. Choi Young Jin, Mr. Lee Jae Wook, and Ms. Seo Jeong Ae; VTVcab leaders Ms. Ho Ngoc Mai, Mr. Vu Hai Thanh, Mr. Bui Huy Nam, Mr. Vu Quang Tao, Mr. Phuong Manh Linh, Mr. Dinh Quang Minh, and Mr. Nguyen Viet Phu; as well as representatives from V-International: Ms. Victoria Doan, Ms. Le Minh Trang, and Ms. Jenny Tran Doan, who prepared the meeting minutes.

A highlight of the session was the discussion on how both broadcasters could leverage their respective strengths, particularly FTV’s extensive experience as Korea’s No.1 fishing and nature-focused channel. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, FTV has maintained over 80% self-produced content, positioning it as a “power content channel” with a strong identity and creative autonomy. As noted in its profile, FTV has built a library of 420 titles and more than 23,000 content episodes, while consistently achieving a “Very Good” rating for production competency from the Korea Communications Commission for 11 consecutive years.

FTV’s international reach was also acknowledged as a major advantage: its programs are distributed across cable TV, IPTV, mobile platforms, and overseas broadcasters—including China, New Zealand, and the Americas—providing access to tens of millions of households worldwide. This aligns well with VTVcab’s strategy of expanding high-quality international content for Vietnamese audiences and seeking co-production opportunities that enhance cultural exchange.

During the meeting, both sides agreed that existing content can be shared across platforms, enabling flexible deployment on VTVcab’s ecosystem while offering FTV greater exposure in Vietnam. Given the similarities in audience profiles—particularly interest in lifestyle, outdoor activities, culture, and documentary storytelling—co-production emerged as a promising direction.

VTVcab appointed Mr. Phuong Manh Linh as the official liaison for follow-up coordination, including drafting the formal collaboration letter and exploring concrete projects such as documentary co-production, rights exchange, and platform-based content integration.

The role of V-International was recognized as a vital connector, not only bridging the initial engagement but also shaping a collaborative framework that supports sustainable cooperation. Their involvement underscores the growing importance of specialized agencies in facilitating international media partnerships and fostering industry-to-industry exchange.

The meeting concluded with a shared outlook toward meaningful joint projects that can enrich Vietnam’s television landscape while contributing to FTV’s goal of spreading Korean outdoor culture, fishing lifestyle, and nature storytelling to the world. As stated in FTV’s own materials: “Working with the Korean Fishing Channel FTV will kick off a wave of success.”
