Vietnam Manufacturing Weekly Highlights: New Factories, Energy Projects, and Trade Growth
Vietnam’s industrial and manufacturing landscape continues to surge forward with a series of groundbreaking ceremonies, factory inaugurations, and major energy investments, underscoring the country’s position as a dynamic hub for global supply chains.
Factory Developments Across Key Industrial Parks
Several significant projects marked key milestones this month. The Amazing Ecotech Textile Factory Project in Quang Ngai reached its topping-out stage, built on a site of more than 82,000 m² at VSIP Quang Ngai Industrial Park. Similarly, the Meiko Hoa Binh Phase 2 Project, a high-tech PCB manufacturing facility with an investment of USD 500 million, celebrated its topping-out ceremony on September 9.
In Hung Yen Province, HL Platek Technology JSC held a groundbreaking ceremony for the X3 Workshop at Pho Noi A Industrial Park, strengthening Vietnam’s footprint in high-tech manufacturing. Meanwhile, VinaCoremax inaugurated Phase I of its nickel and cobalt sulfate factory at Nam Tien Phong Industrial Park, aiming to serve the growing lithium-ion battery industry.
Other notable events included the inauguration of Ba Tu Binh Phuoc Agricultural & Food Processing Factory, focused on cashews and macadamia nuts, and the topping-out of the Fansipan Factory at Long Hau Expanded Industrial Park.
Industrial Real Estate Gains Momentum
The industrial real estate sector also saw strong activity. Frasers Property Vietnam (FPV) kicked off Phase 2 of the Dong Mai Industrial Centre, adding 83,000 sqm of land and 48,000 sqm of ready-built facilities. CapitaLand Group broke ground on the Avatar Vietnam Project in Ha Long, covering 6.4 hectares for a modern production complex. Additionally, Soilbuild International accelerated progress on the Spectrum Hung Yen Project, which will deliver 52,000 sqm of ready-built factories.
Energy and Utilities: Pioneering Waste-to-Energy and LNG
Energy infrastructure witnessed landmark achievements. On September 18, AMACCAO Group and Seraphin Green Environment Technology inaugurated the Seraphin Waste-to-Energy Plant, one of Southeast Asia’s largest facilities of its kind, capable of processing 2,250 tons per day. The same day, Unit 1 of the USD 2.2 billion Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant was inaugurated, bringing 1,200 MW of coal-fired capacity online.
Looking ahead, Hai Phong LNG Power Plant is set to break ground on September 26. With a scale of nearly 100 hectares and a total investment of VND 40 trillion, the project will eventually deliver 4,800 MW of capacity, spearheaded by Vingroup and VinEnergy.
Upcoming Events: Global Partnerships and Innovation
Vietnam is preparing for a series of international events aimed at strengthening cooperation. From October 27–28, Cross Connect Club will host a working program for more than 30 textile and garment companies from Yunnan, China. DEEP C Industrial Zones will organize its suppliers’ exhibition and networking event, while Techfest Hai Phong 2025 (October 9–11) will showcase innovations in AI, IoT, semiconductors, and green technology, with over 110 exhibitions and 3,000 participants expected.
Trade: Nearly USD 600 Billion in Import-Export Value
Vietnam’s trade figures continue to impress. In the first eight months of 2025, total import-export turnover reached USD 597.93 billion, a 16.3% increase year-on-year. Exports accounted for USD 305.96 billion (+14.8%), while imports rose to USD 291.97 billion (+17.9%).
The FDI sector played a critical role, contributing USD 425.57 billion in trade value, up 22.1%. The United States remained Vietnam’s largest export market, with shipments totaling USD 99.05 billion (+26.4%), followed by China (USD 42.01 billion) and the EU (USD 36.94 billion).
